View my Scooby that’s a V3
The V3 runs a VF28 Turbo the V4 a VF29.
Both have the facelift front end but the V4 has the newer style dash with the cubby hole in the top.

The sti 3 has the larger VF23 turbo and wilder cams compared to the v4 that has a VF24. However the v4 has the updated dash, which looks nicer than the v3

Whats the going rate on the two models? Had a look at a V3 with 48k miles, imported last Dec'07 and is mechanically sound although left side of car has had a respray (might of had some serious scratches) but all the panels look original.

Anyway i might be able to get it for about £3200 if he's desprite to sell.

Paul.

That sounds about right for an average V3 pay a bit more for a mint one they are going for nothing now buyers market
Dont worry if it knocks a little when cold (piston slap) most V3-V4s do it just make sure its not there when warm.

Agree its very off putting at first if I didn't know better would think it was knackered. Mine doesn't do it at all when the weather is hot but even when cold goes off after 2 or 3 miles.

I went to look at a white V4 STi fresh import and totally standard. The car had done 56K or 90Km's up for £3895. But it needed a remap for uk fuel, service, some body work done, a new interior etc... and the guy selling it who was 19 and could not get insurance when he currently owns a JDM Integra Type R

I did not go for it in the end, the deal just seemed dodgy somehow

Can you remap the V3/4 STI ECU’s?
I believe the fuelling is not so bad as the really high octane fuel was not available until 1998 think it was

I think the likes of Polar Performance and Jolly Green Monster might take issue with you there... it used to be the case that the older ECUs weren't mappable, but not any more.

I maybe in a minority but i actually prefer the pre-facelift dash..

There are bargains out there to be had, Ive just bought a V3 STI RA, fresh import with 50k on the clock, since its been in the country the guy spent a few quid on it...Simtek ecu, new tyres, turbo back afterburner exhaust and a few other bits and pieces all for 4k.

Actually I just checked, looks like it might still just be the earlier (up to '96) ones that can now be mapped... best check if you're unsure
