Default oil temp

hi my classic has the standard lamco gauges and the oil temp guage only goes to 50c , one of my work mates reckons this is to low as his vectra sits at 80 to 90c .what should they run at cheers j

At a steady 80 mph mine's running 95 degrees, sensor mounted in the block above number three, the one that runs hot....

P.S. My pal has an oil temp sender mounted at the front of his Ibiza TDi, and that's affected by the airflow through the rad.

Mine runs around 90degrees aswell. Also plumbed in to piston No3.

makes you wonder why they fitted a gauge that only goes upto 50 , it normally reads about 40c cheers j ( its a jap wrx with lamco gauges above the stereo )
