S2000 to a Subaru
Hi Guys and Girls,
This is my first post so please be kind.
I currently have a Honda S2000 and have been really pleased with it but im now looking at exchanging it for a Subaru.
The S2000 is a lovely car, handles very nicely, and gets a lot of nice comments made about it, however, I just feel its time for a change.
More then 2 seats would be nice for a change as well.
Anyone have any advice on Subaru's in general, what to watch out for etc...
Cheers for any advice
Rob

Guess its just the torque that I miss from the S2000, but reving up to 9k revs feels good.
So STI WRX etc.. whats the way forward? I want to spend around 15k tops dont mind year or mileage, just want a very good car for that price.

Go for the sti with ppp (prodrive performance pack) a subaru approved upgrade, with your budget you should get a great motor, as with all cars a full service history is a must as is a good test drive, listen out for any knocking from the rear suspension (more noticeable at low speed) its a common fault with the impreza, I'm sure you will be hooked after a drive in the sti ppp, good luck with the search.

Danny.

I went from a 350z to my STI so not a million miles away from what you are doing and for similar reasons (i.e. the seats and the practicality of a saloon). As mentioned you will miss some of the fun factor and poserbility of your current car but other than that the Impreza is in a different league performance wise.
Go for a 06+ STI (Hawkeye) with under or around 20k miles. You can get the Prodrive Performance Pack (you will pay slightly more) but you can also do it after market which is better (as custom) and cheaper. I never dreamed of modifying a car before the Impreza (mainly as a super charger for a 350z was about £8k ) but the Impreza realy is easy and cheap to customise.
Around £1k of mods will buy you a 360-370bhp car with 390lbft of torque.

I am keen on that Spec D, looks great.
The other option is keep the S2000 and adding a Supercharger or Turbo... would cost me about 3-6k to do that depending on how mad I went on it but would create a monster if I go the turbo option.
I have an older mondeo as well for the 4 seat thing but was planning on getting rid of that and combining the two cars into one scooby.
Lots to think about, cheers for all the info guys.

I've driven an S2000 and owned a CTR for 2 years. I loved the whole Honda thing and the 2k is a lovely car (lots of head room!) and I've toyed with getting one for about 5 years now but they just don't feel right when I sit in them. Great cars, brilliant gearbox but for me the Impreza wins all hands down for driving fun. Go drive a few and see what you think.

Best thing about an impreza compared to your s2000 will be the torque, no changing down to overtake, just floor it and let the torque do the work!
And the flat four burble, the sound of an impreza with a decent exhaust on gives me a semi on!

Look at the JDM new age cars, twin scroll turbo, lovely bike sound stronger engines, great fun to drive and virtually no lag (plus you get some nice goodies on them)
Slightly more expensive to run (7.5k/6 month service intervals v 10k/1year) but they are a nicer car to drive and live with

Nevermind, I went from a S2000 to an Impreza. No matter how good an impreza you get you WILL miss the thrill of top down driving, especially in this weather.

Thing with the convertible it has a tintop as well if you want the tintop on, and the AC is great for keeping warm on the cold night with the roof down and ice cold in the hot weather.
Do need more torque though
