The AA don't ask you what car you've got or if it's modified either. Are you talking about warranty?

I used to use Green flag and teh the times I've used them they have been spot on (except when the direct debit didn't work, and I only found out when I broke down and called - bank's fault)...but now my car insurance covers it (Zurich), which I'm yet to use, so can't comment.

Either way:

It goes without saying, no matter who you use, make sure they send a flatbed. As serious drivetrain damages does occur if an AWD Impreza/Legacy/Forester is towed with two wheels still on the ground; don't let any "know it all" recovery driver tell you any different.

Towing is ok if ALL 4 wheels are on the ground.

Like SM says, serious problems occur when the 2 wheels are lifted and only 2 wheels on the ground.

As far as Im aware most tow companies tow with only 2 wheels on the ground.I think they use a thing called an "A" frame which normally lifts the 2 front wheels
IF they do tow with only 2 wheels on the ground what sort of damage will happen, gearbox, diff ?????

Towing with only the rears or fronts on the deck will wind up the centre diff and potentially damage it.

Subaru Tips gives a horses mouth answer.

On our 4wd trucks, we have to disconnect the rear drive shaft when towing.

Similar reasons the old Calibra turbos used to suffer badly from worn tyres front and rear. Change all four tyres together or suffer the consequences of a **** gearbox.
