looks nothing from this angle though
And if you have any interest in how it drives (taken from evo magazine)
And finally
Model Evo STI
0-30 1.9 1.7
0-40 2.7 2.7
0-50 3.9 3.6
0-60 5.2 5.1
0-70 6.9 6.5
0-80 8.8 8.3
0-90 11.1 10.4
0-100 13.9 12.7
0-110 17.5 15.8
0-120 22.4 20.8
0-130 30.2 25.7
1/4 mile 13.9 sec 13.6 sec
Speed 100mph 103mph
Not that this means anything if you're buying a car for the looks......

The Evo X SST is still a very quick car across the ground, its ability to carry speed is phenomenal and there are moments when you catch glimpses of why we love Evos, but they’re fleeting thanks to the layer of desensitising civility Mitsubishi has added in. A car like the Evo is not, should not, be a mainstream car.
Jumping back into the Impreza as the sun sinks, it’s clear the STI wins this battle. It’s more engaging to drive, the engine feels much stronger and there’s simply more of what you want, what you expect, from a thrilling rally-stage refugee. When you add in the price difference too, it’s a clear winner.

real question is...
can the sti ever look as lardy, heavy and clumbersome as this?
sorry, but the new evo has followed suit into the meduim/large saloon catagory, whereas the previous models squeezed into the smaller more nimble catagory. possibly why they havent got this in the wrc?

New STi = Rover 25/Focus/Kia
New Evo = Alfa/Pug406/Laguna.
Both haver copied mainstream jelly-mould family cars, no style, no heart.
Memo to both: fitting spoilers, scoops, FMICs and huge cod mouths DOES NOT MAKE THE CAR SPORTY! That's what chavs do
Are the same designers working on every car now? Or just moving from factory to factory, churning out the same designs?
Witness Ford's "new" Mondeo, with the boot off a last year's Laguna And the Mondeo before that, which copied the rear lights off a Passat
No real design sparkle out there any more.

I like the new EVO (does look a bit big and wobbly) and even the STI is finally growing on me (although the WRX isn't much). I'm sure V2 -the facelifted STI will be much better , new lights - new front etc

Saw a new Evo the weekend. Had no road presence and looked more bland than the new STi.
I'm no hardcore fanboy, but i'd still take the new STi over the new Evo and possibly the new focus over both of them.

i dont like the look of the new sti at all, However a few months back i saw what can only have been a demo or somthing in the flesh and sti, and it looked amasing!
however the S3 is both faster and looks better. thats the one id have.
