Default ECUTEK on PPP STi anyone done it?

Just wondered if anyone here has had an ECUTEK remap carried out on their STi whilst retaining the PPP exhaust and no other mods. What figures did you achieve?

Am thinking of doing it to my MY03 STi, although will probably change the panel filter.

Im more looking for the benefits of having a map tailored to your car rather then the generic PPP but just curious as to what figures people have achieved.

thanks.

Hardly worth it really for the £500 remap fee. The pick-up on just a remap may be a bit better but to make a big difference on the road you need a bigger turbo and supporting mods.

there are less gains on the 2.5 wrx as the poor little turbo cannot blow much more but more torque is very good.

the 2.0 wrx and the sti and 2.5 sti can gain lots over the ppp

I had a remap done on my 03 sti, but added the basic supporting mods at the time. New panel filter, 3 port boost solenoid, and full milltek 3" exhaust system. It drives a lot smoother then the previous ppp, and the figures are slightly better (figures aren't everything btw) Torque is much lower down, which makes for an easier car to shuffle along briskly.

If you can afford it, get the above basic mods done at the same time as the map, then the map becomes worth it.

My 03 STI topped out at 310bhp with a powerstation ecutek remap. (Pre Det issues)

Prodrive exhaust and STI air filter.

Some do well, some not so well.

BR developments re-mapped it 12 months later, and fitted a 3 port boost solenoid, but I never got it on a rolling road to see what he got it to.
(But it did feel more responsive, with more torque)

Obviously, you're not going to see the big gain you would get if the car was standard, but still worth doing if the money's not a major problem. (full cost as this will be the first re-map)
I did exactly as you are suggesting and it made a nicer driving car, smoother and more response with 40 bhp gains in places! (according to R/R figures on the same dyno. but a year apart.) 340/310 peak figures.
Mine was done by Richard Bulmer via TSL

I had my PPP'd STI mapped by Bob Rawle and got 336 bhp/340lbft according to delta dash , the only other mod (if you can call it that) was an STI panel filter

Don't think so.

I had my MY05 PPP STI remapped earlier in the year.
approx 335 bhp and similar lbft torque.
I had a new set of plugs fitted and an STI panel filter.

Make it a much more driveable car over the PPP version.
Full boost 1.4bar comes in at I think 2,700, and just keeps on going until 7K if you wish.

When it was only the PPP nothing much happened until approx 3.5K, then it sort of went all quiet again around 5.5 - 6K

Well worth it - in my opinion of course.

Shaun

Thanks for your views/experiences everyone.

Think im going to go for it, tempted with the 333 for PPP option that TSL do with the deresonated centre section and panel filter as i wanted to free up some noise anyway, the PPP Exhaust is to quiet.

Thanks Simon, Appreciate it. What do you reckon a WRX PPP with Decat, and Green panel Filter, would make after EcuTek??

Ball park figure.

Had my 05 sti ppp done by JGM in february. Mine has been mapped for 98, as I don't have near me v power
With panel filter and ppp already fitted, it was just a remap. Car is more responsive as some others said, and boost comes earlier, indeed around 2.7 k rpm.

Didn't do an rr since, but car is defenetively pulling better. Also when I have the chance to pt v power in it, it is like a different car - huge increase. I recon with 98 is about 310-320 bhp and similar torque and with v power is around 340

Before I did it I was looking a lot for feedback about reliability, but there weren't many, so here are my 2 cents
I have covered since the remap 7k kms, and most of it was on the autbahn, driving 220 kph+ even 250kph for quite a long time(hours) and car is running perfectly. Was in the Alps too, where performace dropped as expected, but nothing breaked - this was a real test I think - so I'm pretty happy
Also fuel consumption dropped, especially at high speeds. Where previously a 200kph I'd average 19-20 l/100kms, now this is about 15-16 l, so the difference is huge
(in normal driving conditions is also consuming less, with about 1-1.5 l/100 kms)
Hope this helps
