It's a UK 2000 turbo. Not an STI in any shape or form and strangely it used to live about a minute from my house!

If it was a 555 LTD ED it would have the 555 stitched in to the seats and a plaque saying what number it was. As said above just a uk turbo 2000.

Thought as much, do the 555 models have roof vents or not? Fairly sure they did on the v1 & v2s. No red top engine either probably lots of other things as well such as grille, fog covers etc etc.

Personally I'd say no it isn't a 555 model.

I'm guessing you've only asked due to the 555 on the bootlid?

The interior would have 555 on a plack and embroided into the seats iirc or that could just be on the 555 typeR model.

As above though just ask for the VIN number etc and do some searching...

I'm not interested in a UK model, really after an STI now, so not bothered about this car. Just feel sorry for the person who thinks there going to get a 330bhp car and then find they get beaten by something that shouldn't beat a 220bhp car let alone a 330bhp.

I emailed him to tell him it's not an STI and just had a reply telling me it is an import because there's jap writing on the sun visors!

I used to email people on ebay who say they've got a 300+bhp STI for sale when they were quite clearly selling a 2000 turbo!

Amazing how many there are.

I often wonder how many people out there (who've bought one not knowing)are paying more insurance for an STI that's actually a uk/euro turbo.

Was that a UK colour? It looks like JDM Sport Blue to me, which wasnt offered for non-limited WRX/STI models.

Doesn't have any front light spray washers either. I'd say it's an import. Ask them if there's a bright switch on the dash.

Its got a rear wash wipe as well. Does that not mean it is an import? ( unless somebody went to the bother of fitting one )

cant be, its got the japanese speedometer. uk ones went to 160mph and jap to 180kph.

yeah other option is jdm wrx. Pretty sure its mettallic paint (used to live a few doors from me)

Its certainly not an sti that's for sure.

It's certainly not 53C colour code which it would have to be IIRC.

Mines is also 53c and it is a 555 although its a version 2 and doesnt have a numbered plaque.

Its not an STI thats for sure. No red top motor, no alloy inter cooler, no carbon strut brace, std seats, no pink badge, its got fog lights
i would report him to eBay as he is trying to sell something it isn't

Theres an STI i'm looking at at the moment but its got fog lights, and no covers. I guess the best bet is to get the chassis number and search to find out if the shell is a genuine sti one.

I would be more concerned about the fact he's only had the car 2 months, yet in that time he still doesn't have the log book. Took mine 2 weeks to come from the DVLA. A leaver as far as I can see.

I'll second the opinion that it looks like a WRX - no strut brace or red top engine are the giveaways. Should still be 260 or 280 bhp though IIRC.

the aerial is in the jdm spot at the rear, couldn't see a fog light fitted though.
