Default Where to get general scooby knowledge

Hello. Just joined as just brought a scooby and suspect most of my questions are stoopid ones (only just found out mines called a Blobeye MY05...although I've no idea what the 'my' stands for?) so wondered what's the best place / books etc. to find out some general knowledge about the cars.

What's a MAF? What's the difference between the PPP or getting Xtreme Scoobies to do a remap and full exhaust? These are just a few things I'm trying to find out.

Cheers all,

MY - model year
MAF - also known as air flow meter (sits between air filter intake and engine - reads air flow)
PPP - subaru approved upgrade, if you're out of warranty then any respectable tuner is ok

This site is the best place for info, just use the search facility.

MY stands for Model Year, can't remember exactly what MAF stands for but think it monitors air flow, PPP is basically an approved new/upgraded ECU, fuel pump, and exhaust I believe so probably not much difference apart from cost maybe..

Welcome also!!

Model Year, which is manufactured from about September/October of the previous year. MAF stands for Mass AirFlow sensor: the airflow meter between the airbox and the plenum chamber, which measure the volume of air thats being ingested. A PPP wont affect your warranty or your ability to obtain an extended manufacturers warranty: the downside is that its generic, so youll get less of an improvement.

Brill...and cheers to all.

Looks like I'm not going to worry about the PPP. Xtreme Scoobies have impressed me with their attitude so far...and the cars booked in for a service so looks like they're also going to get my money for a remap & zorst - apparently this'll get me to c305bhp!

But what about manuals - I can't see that Haynes do one for it so what's the best book as an owners manual?

Subaru, Performance Handbook, TrainingWRX Edition3 by Steve Bijok. it's Aussie and I got mine from there. It's pricey with the postage etc but has a lot of good imformation combined with reality checks
