Following on from a thread I did a couple of days ago regarding remaps/decats, I have since been told by my Insurance company that thay would want to see it pass an MOT with a full decat to continue the policy.
I'm guessing theres no way in hell a car would do this, so a High flow cat would be the answer. Basically the insurance company only insure road worthy cars (to put it bluntly).

So heres my next question, apart from sticking a cat on MOT time what else do you guys do if you have a Full Decat fitted?, also if your in an accident and the insurance company see you have a decat its not road worthy, so valid insurance.

Trouble is these high flow cat are very pricey, around £300 over a cat pipe for £80 (I can see the attraction).

I'd say that unless you know a 'friendly' tester who would have to stick the emissions probe up the back end of another car to bypass the computer system, the it's got to be a sports cat.

If you have to spend approx 5 hrs each year fitting your old downpipe the day before and removing the next day AND run the risk of failing a roadside test AND invalidating your insurance, then I'd pay the extra £220.

As good as a decat sounds etc, its not worth the risk of either a spot check or an insurance claim. So a high flow cat it will be, been in contact with H&S today and have been quoted £475 +vat for a 100 cell cat, which is different to their web-site . A prodrive cat was sugested, but they only tend to turm on on ebay, I'll maybe have to keep an eye out on ther for sale section on here.

Can't say how good they are, but Scoobyworld do one for £300 and TSL's is £395 inc VAT.

I paid £200 for a good s/h Prodrive one from ebay. I've seen new ones go for around £250. That's what I'd look for if you're not in a hurry.

I went with a Prodrive one too, also paid £200. Andy Forrest who mapped the car was impressed with how it performed compared to a decat...

Pretty much sorted then. Source a prodrive or similar, at a good price mind.

There are 2 currently on ebay. One goes today and is at £120 at the mo, but it looks like the old style which should have a heat cover round it.

The other is the new style and is up to £130, but still has a few days to run. I'd put a bid of a little over £200 for that one, personally, when it's a minute or so to go.

If I were to say but a different brand from the H&S system I have on already, would they fit i.e. line up. Because I think the Scoobyworld one is described as a Ninja?.

I can't tell you which, but I think some are longer and mean you have to remove the short 2nd cat section (no bad thing).

You have got it 100% in my eyes. That's the reason I went for a Sports Cat on my system from RCM.

The Sports cat is not cheap but worth its weight in gold I think. I'm due my MOT end of July and to be honest I am crapping it. The reason, yes I have a sports cat but I have the Team Ice system back box,non res centre and just the sports cat down pipe!!! Pheeeeeeerp. It should pass mind you.

As GONZ said above, my Ninja Sports Cat also flies through the MOT on its own.

Mine has passed twice now, with Magnex backbox and centre.

Also, its not even hot when they test it. Last month I drove 1 mile, dropped it off @ 8:30am and they tested it @ 4:00pm. Passed easily.
