You will probably need a sandwich plate to mount the sensor. They are quite easy to get and they go between the engine and the oil filter. They have several takeoff points that you can blank off or use for oil pressure too

Or above the No 3 cylinder using an adaptor plug such as the ones from LMA.

Richie's idea is easiest, and that's where Subaru recommend putting the sensor.

You'll need a long 8mm Allen key, (mine was bought locally for under £5), and probably an adaptor to screw into the threads once you get the plug out. Your sender then screws into the adaptor. A bit of PTFE tape helpsd to avoid leaks, but don't go mad, or your sender won't earth

My adaptor came from Scoobymania, £8.

The blanking plug is a light brass colour, and sits on top of cylinder 3 which is the rear of the o/s of the engine. It can be seen on top of the engine in front of the intercooler and turbo. The plug is around 25mm across with a hex hole in it.

I removed the intercooler to get at mine.

The whole job took under two hours with loads of coffee breaks

P.S. I also put mine in that spot, but easy with a FMIC....
