interior light wierdness

hello all,
I replaced my interior light bulb last week as it had blown. I realised the following evening that it was not working. today I checked it out and found the bulb had failed again!
Any idea why this could be? It says it is a 10watt rating. Is this too low, or could there be some kind of power surge going on?
