997 carrera s v 2.5 sti ppp
My brother in law got a 997 carrera s and was bragging about how quick it was, anyway he required a lift when leaving it at the garage and i followed him in my sti ppp. The sti was able to sit with the carrera, all be it except on long straights, quite pleased in the result, think he was surprised on checking his rear view mirror, Porsche owners take note.
I drove it back later and its not much quicker that the scobby, a bit light on the nose, nice note though

I suspect Porsche drivers aren't going to be too bothered about a Subaru and its performance. I know which i'd rather be sat in and it doesn't come from Japan.

I will frequent where ever i like, ever heard the phrase freedom of speach?
Having owned two Impreza's in the last 3 years i feel i qualify to post regardless of your opinion. I bet people have posted on this section that haven't even owned a Subaru so see if you can track them down, dont waste your energy and time on me.

I have noticed that there is not a lot in cars straight line speed once moving unless there is a LARGE difference in bhp/torque 50 of each doesnt seem to make a lot of difference IMO

If the model in question is a new 911 carrera s then it would beat the scooby sti ppp in everything. Handling, brakes and acceleration. I'd love to have porsche brakes on scooby! Some people do! But as the guy said any performance diesel can keep up!

Sorry have to disagree with that one. I live around 45 minutes south of Le Mans so for once a year every other car is a Porsche around here. I've come up against many C4S and they couldn't get away from my MY05 STI PPP. I have an ex client who has a C4S and he now lives here. I let him drive the scoob and he said that cross country he would be working very very hard to keep the pace of the scoob. This is a 55 year old guy that has had Porkers since he was 26!

Both are marketed as performance cars, so its only natural people will compare. Most would rather have the porker because it costs loads and inflates egos when driving up and down the high street.

Sorry misunderstood you. I do like the Porker but I like Jap cars better and thats why I would never have one. Its like if you said to me pick a GT2 or the new GTR. The new GTR would win hands down for me. Its not a price thing just love jap cars! Each to their own

LOL I once caught a C4S in the twisties in my Hillman Imp, needless to say the Porsche owner was less than Imp-ressed. He probably knew I had drum brakes.....
