Default looking for a classic sti

looking at buying a classic scooby over the next couple of weeks...after a version 4 or 5 sti. come across this one on ebay, what do you reckon??
what sort of price should i be looking at paying for one of these? anything i should be looking out for??

no more than 5k i would have thought with the current market?


i may be wrong but i thought a 98 was a version 5 ?

She looks like a nice one alright! The WRC Bumper looks well!

She is a Jap car so you'd want to make sure that the engine was remapped for the drop in Octain from the Jap 101 to the english 99 oct!

Check for knocking in the engine if there is any your talking about a Rebuild!

Mmmm... so is it a 4 or a 5? Thought 98 made it a five aswell!! Shouldn't a five have the bigger spoiler though??

its a v4 due to not having the dump valve fitted to intercooler.

v4 Looks nice. I like the front bumper on it makes a change from the common facelift craze.

Always check for check for bottom end engine knocking. Also check the revs don't do up and down.

Check for any suspention noises as well when test driving.

Tax for the year is apparently 400 squid!!!!... is that right?? Thought that was for cars after 2001?? Or does it have something to do with when the car was imported?

mine is a 98 version 4 sti type r - i only pay £180 per year thank god :-) probably as its been in the uk since brand spanking new.

mines a 99 model version 5 and tax is same as mozzas

I gto a 1995 wrs jdm and pay £99 every six months tax.

Nice exmaple that sti also.

We won it for £3700!! What d'ya reckon.. good price?? Can't wait to get our hands on it!... just abit annoyed about the tax!

Any ideas why it is so steep for such an old car??

I have a 98 STi Type R which is in the cheap tax brand and is a V4 with a V5 facelift bumper and lights and for sale at £6k
