Why do bikers have to try and prove there bike against fast cars ??? I came off a round about today and drove the car thru a few gears changing at 6krpm on each change. There was a biker in the outside lane who was happily driving along normally until I boosted mine. It was some big cc bike as you could tell from the size of the back wheel but his performance was really terrible. If I had tried to pass him I could of easily, plus I could see his bike starting to wobble abit as he hit a corner at speed All I could do was laugh as I sat behind my wheel in comfort knowing I wasn't even trying to prove anything

He can't habe been trying mate bikes are rapid. In corners your car may be faster (if the rider is inexperienced or scared:-) but in any line......different gravy. I had one showing off last week. Fair play, it was quick! Very quick indeed

Agreed i ride a VTr1000 and the scoob is no where near as quick in a straight line maybe in the twistys cause i'm **** lol.

Saying that bikes are slow in the twistys is a big mistake i was on the Cat & Fiddle in Derbyshire a few weeks ago and a guy on a new ZX6R overtook me and just left me like i was stood still. I was redlining the scoob whenever i could and had the tyres screeching on the bends and this guy was gone Saw him a bit later coming back the other way

I would say a good rider on a bike will always beat a car be it in a straight line or a twisty road just that most bike riders like me are not that good a rider

If he was decent and depending on road conditions he would have been away. Even mid range 600cc bikes are super quick, my CBR600RR does 60 in around 3 seconds and 100 in 7. Add a bit of traffic and a bike has a massive advantage as overtaking is a breeze.
Most drivers can take a corner quickly, different story on a bike.

I know
Its never a fair 'race' as riding the bike takes way more bottle than putting your right foot down.

A circa 12's 1/4 mile car isn't shy when it comes to (some)bikes.

Bit like saying not all cars are rapid
All 600cc or above modern sports bikes are fast. If it had a huge back tyre and was one of the new bread of 1000cc sports bike they are mega quick and was probably pissing his self laughing at you trying to go quick Bet he wasn't using more than 6k revs ether.
Or your STI has over 400bhp??

Not all the people that ride big bikes can or do ride them fast.
I have an R6 and am fairly sure in a straight line would beat my car big time.

Perhaps he thought you might be playing silly buggers and wanted to play? "a few gears" at 6k... what gears were those? 2nd and 3rd are the likely candidates of course and since that would put you at a fair rate of speed not entirely sure you can blame him.

With a competant rider, a race 600+cc race/road bike, GSXR/ZXR Series, not a fazer 600 or cbr 600,will whip the road over any car upto the £35+k spec, obviously verons/ferraris are another matter, but there not your average fast road car you see everyday.

me,on my Gixer 750 will prob have a scoob/evo, about 2 car lengths behind me as im no race rider on the bike, just a bit above adequate, some road riders are very very very very good !

all of the modern 1000s are 10 second quarter machines.

for instance an 08 fireblade does 0-140mph in 9.69 seconds, how fast does your scoob cover a quarter?

If he has over 500bhp as I said whats a different matter.
But then that a bit like modding a bussa like above with a Turbo kit then its seriously quick. Or in standard trim will it still beat a 500bhp impreza??

don't like to **** on your chips but a standard cbr 600 rr can do 10.9.

now, i'm sure your car is very quick but when you post "If I had tried to pass him I could of easily" then you had better have the bhp to back it up

in the situation you described the bike was more than likely in 3rd gear or even 4th and so you being ready in the sweet spot in second would more than likely give you an big advantage that would make the bike look "relatively" slow.

no one is injured so it's all good fun .

on the road things can be a lot closer than they would ever appear on paper as there are too many variables.

I think you need to get your car way under a 10s 1/4 mile before you laugh at sports bikes performance some stock bikes can get under 10s now and thats on pump fuel

Can everyone post some 1/4 times??? - Honda Motorcycles - FireBlades.org

I wasn't laughing at the bikes performance !!! I was laughing at him having to try and prove he was faster than me !! I saw him looking at me coming up in his mirrors Why feel the need to be in front of me when he was just driving normally before
