Cool

yours would be reffered to as a MY 98, My refers to Manufactured Year, and the the numbers denote the year of registration..yours is known as the classic..as in the first of its kind..blob eye is the ugly one that replaced the classic..then bug eye replaced that one..(or the way round, cannot remember!!0..then hawkeye..aka as the sti 7/8...then the new age, is the ugly ***** that is out now...i think...i may have missed one out...

in my opinion, the classic is the one...i have had 5...on my forst Jap spec one..just sit back...and enjoy the ride..

end of...a Subaru is just that...a subaru impreza..a car that just begs to be driven..adored..pampered..sad i know..but no other car sinceits arrival has had such a following..end of

Wrong! Bugeye was the ugly one, and replaced the classics, hence it was given the name 'newage'.
Blobeye was just a facelift of the bugeye and the hawkeye a facelift of the blobeye, but they are all referred to as newage.
Sti 7/8 were not hawkeyes, sti 7 is a bugeye jdm sti and sti 8 is a blobeye jdm sti.

Not really sure what the my08 is referred to as, except maybe "ugly"

Ok, so on this note, mine is a 1998 S Reg Uk Turbo 2000 with facelift interior (digital milage etc) but not facelift exterior, old style front bumper

Assume this means it is a MY98?? The MY99 coming with facelift interior AND exterior???

According to this site Imprezas do not exist after the year 2000. I like the final quote in the model history section: "and a completely new model is expected for the 2001 model year"
