Default 4 pot caliper retaining clip.

Anyone have a 4 pot caliper retaining clip that I can have or does anyone know where I can get one from ?

On the way home from work earlier, heard something drop off the car from the drivers side wheel and the retaining clip on the caliper has gone

Could be difficult to get a clip unless it's daft money from a dealer (well, might be daft money, who knows?).

Two paperclips will suffice though if you want to save a few pennies.

Unless it's the anti squeal spring you're on about?

If it's the anti vibration clip (cross shaped) then they'll cost around 15 of your lovely pounds and only available from the stealer

It's the cross shaped big clip that clips onto both the pins.

Thing is,since mine fell out the brakes are making an awful noise like the pads are moving around in the caliper - making like a clonking noise !

I haven't got any Subaru dealers close to me and I bet they'd have to order it in anyway

I need one asap so if anyone else can help me that would be great.

It's this one I need: Subaru Parts at Graham Goode Racing

I might just order one from GGR,should have it in a couple of days

Does anyone know why it would fall out and how should I fit the new one to make sure that one doesn't fall out aswell ?

That's the one. Shouldn't just fall out if it is clipped properly. Easy peesy to put on mate. Put the long end in first and push down to clip it in...

Does it matter which way up it goes ? Just wondering if I did something wrong to make it fall out !

If I remember correctly the long end goes toward the rear of the car. Just make sure it's clipped in properly and it'll be fine.

Sounds like you have the same problem with mine.
https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ing-wrong.html

I heard a "boing" sound and only when I got home found that the clip had gone.

Car makes an awful screeching noise when I apply the brakes now. Very embarassing as my friends keep saying that I need to change my brake pads LOL

It definately stopped the noise on a lady friend's MY00 Turbo, just have a wee feel of the caliper through the wheel if you can to see if it's still on!! Once the wheel's off it's a two minute job

Since mine fell off the brakes are making an awful noise, like a clonking as the wheel is going round, almost like the grooves in the disc are hitting the pads !

When I brake it sounds fine but as soon as I lift off the brake pedal the noise comes back !

Thants exactly what it was like!! Horrible sound! She's got grooved discs too so probably made it sound worse than standard discs!! It's amazing what the little clip actually does!!

Just fitted the new clip and the noise has stopped

One question though - should there be 2 pins through the middle of the pads to hold this retaining clip in place ?

I've noticed there is 2 holes towards the centre of my pads and wondered if I have some pins missing that should be there to hold this clip in place ?

Can anyone give me any advice regarding this ?

No mate. The clips just push on. The tension should be enough to keep them in.
