Default speedo converter for classic sti??

can someone tell me if i need a mechanical or electronic speedo converter for my 1997 version 3 sti which i have just imported into the uk? i have seen both available on ebay. thanks.

Early dash JDM vehicles use a cable and later dash (white dials) cars have an electronic part. Mechanical for you..

If you have a 97my then you are on the change point from mechanical to elec.

If you give me your chassis no. I can tell you what system you have.

The Sti 3 has a mechnical driven speedo, as it is what i used on my car.
