does seem a bit odd....as they've got UK300 for £20497, i didn't think UK300's could be sourced from europe. Worth looking into though I guess.

I see Micronet advertising all over Autotrader, offering new Ferraris for £40K etc, just seems to be a premium rate phone number scam to me.

Rather amusing to see they're still offering the Nissan Skyline when erm, all 80 are sold !

Thing is, in what way is it a scam ? Where are they making their money ?

Red face

It doesn't look like a Scam and you can apparently order over the web......

At that price though, surely it can't be genuine???

just thought I'd mention they're sourcing from Holland and Belgium.

and FYI

UK WRX 21500
EU WRX 15500
-----
6000 difference

UK STi 26000
EU STi 21500 (ish to make sums nicer)
-----
4500 difference

I reckon you could source them cheaper than that if you shopped around, maybe nearer the 20k mark, could also be talking out my ****.

Sounds about right to me.
The dealer in Belgium where I got my WRX from is quoting STis around that sort of figure.

Thumbs up

Looks very tempting, must do some more investigation... RAC - (check), Which web trader (check), people on the end of phone (check), World pay account (check). Now what else is there?

I can't imagine many people beating this price, can you?

As a matter of interest, does buying a UK 'spec' Import like this make much difference for the running of the car over the next few years?

i.e. is Insurance more costly because it is an Import?

Do garages give any hassle with servicing etc cos it wasn't bought there (or even in this country?)

Arrow

As long as the car bought is a full UK spec (ie EU car with alarm and if STI tracker) the insurance should be the same

In that case it is very tempting....

Anyone know how the insurance things works though....are you covered for a car @ £21,000 or for £25,000 if you insure a 'cheaper' import.

Has anyone actually inported a scooby?

Morning b0b, yes very tempting, I've recently picked up my MY02 WRX from Belgium, insured for same price as a UK WRX, market value, not sure what they'd offer on a claim. Regardless of where it came from if it's 6mths old they're not going to give you the value of a new car anyway are they, you'd get market value of a 6mth car?? Don't know.

Just to answer the rest of your question, the only points of difference between UK and EU supplied car (people please add if I've missed anything)

UK
.Comes supplied with CAT1 (sigmaM30) alarm, STI will also have tracker fitted.
.3 yr UK warranty that allows you to add performance upgrades, for example Prodrive perfomance Package (EUC+exhuast bits+intercooler hoses), suspension, quickshift.
.RAC cover
.No problem when it comes to trading in for your next car, but they'll rob you blind so sell privately

EU
.Need to add CAT1 alarm.
.3 yr Belgium or Dutch warranty which is the same as the UK one BUT cannot add the performance upgrades available, in the UK dealerships, only OEM upgrades (the Dutch Subaru site is probably good for getting an idea of what you can get upgraded).
.RAC Cover on a new car?????
.Some dealers wont accept EU cars as tradein, some will just choose one that will. When/if block exemption is scrapped then this will change for the better.
.EU cars are not undersealed.

I think that's about it.

Servicing is not a problem, the cars must be treated in the same way as UK cars by the dealers, they cannot refuse to service it, if your local dealer is awkward or has an EU attitude take your business else where. Pricing is the same as they are the same the only difference is on the 1000 miler, where for a EU car you have to pay for the labour (2hrs~£50) so £100ish for an EU car £50 for a UK car.

Your last question, has anyone imported a scooby, YES lots of people on this board have, take a look through some of the posts.

All the best

boultsy.

Offers that seem too good to be true often are "too good to be true". A few things I have noticed that seem dodgy about this site after a quick glance.

1). No disclaimer as to whether prices quoted are fixed or vary with exchange rates. If the latter, what rate have they used for their calculation?
2). There is only an email address to contact should you not hear from them within 14 days of vehicle delivery date. Why state that you may not hear from them on the website.
3). They require a 4.5% handling charge for payments/deposits made by credit card. Why!!! when no other company charges this.
4). They quote for importing cars that never were available outside of the UK.

Personally, I much rather pay a few quid more and use an established importer (Virgin/Jamjar etc) or import directly from Belgium/Holland myself.

I guess they charge a 4.5% handling fee on C/Card because that's what Visa etc charge them. Usually when a company has a high turnover they have that rate reduced.. so you can draw your own conclusions from that.
