Default cdb

i've just finished stripping my engine out of my 93 wrx & i have found out it is a closed deck block....so i have a few questions

were these engines ever fitted as standard on the early wrx? (still centre thrust)

what benefits over an open deck do they have?

are parts like crank pistons the same?

if decide on a upgrade rebuild what bhp/torque could i see?

thanx in advance

They were standard on early WRXs as mine also has one.

Trouble is, you are still limited by the pistons as these are no better than on open deck WRXs.
