a little help please....
Hi,
I have just bought some new Rays wheels and need a bit of advice on fitting and tyres.
The wheels are 17 inch and ET44 and my current wheels are 16 inch and ET48 with 205 / 50 tyres on.
I need to get some new tyres and would like to know what size to get. I would like to keep the rolling radius as close to what i already have but also dont want the tyres rubbing on the arches.
Once i know what size tyres to get i will need to decide which ones to get. Currently i am torn between Goodyear Eagle F1's and Toyo Proxies T1-R. Which ones would be the best for grip? Which ones would be the longest lasting? Are there any others you would recommend?
All help greatly received,
Chris

I would say go for 215/40/17 tyre's. The goodyear eagle F1 GSD3's I have on my car are amazing. Scoobs with 17 inch wheels are meant to have 205/45/17's, but due to the fact that there isnt a great selection of tyres in that size, most people use 215/40's. Hope that helps.

I have have the Toyo's and I find them really good, I'll keep buying them. I think the Goodyears are supposed to last longer but haven't had them myself.

215/40, as Alan says. GSD3's are a great road tyre (better in the wet than T1R or just about anything else for that matter) but have quite soft sidewalls and tend to overheat badly on a trackday (good on a short sprint tho).
ET44 may require you to roll the rear arches, suck it and see.
