A similar thing happened to me a few years ago, though not in the Subaru. The police said that as it was not on the highway it was not a criminal matter, so they could not do anything. You would need to go through the civil courts. I think I have this right.

But, agree with other posts hear. Don't let him get away with it. Espacially as you have witnesses, should be a straight forward case.

Thumbs down

bad luck. Get the witnesses to swear affidavits then show those to the police and tell him you've got them. Then sue him.

RE - Parts,

You could try Grade A breakers, they are in the Stockport area, I have had parts from them in the past and the guy that runs it is a decent bloke.

If you have their reg number and witnesses, you should get the police to throw the book at him/her.

You're lucky that you have witnesses - use them.

Same thing happened to me in a pub car park a few years ago but there was no witnesses, I had to claim on my own insurance for the damage which of course put my insurance premium up. Bad luck M8, Screw the Bast**d!!

Take him to the small claims court and use your witness statements as evidence...
