Exhaust help; split, noisy and not boosting correctly.
55 plate STi PPP 11k miles on the clock.
The car wasn't boosting until much higher in the rev range circa 4k rpm and the car is very loud. Eminating from the downpipe/turbo area. I opened the bonnet and noticed a split in the downpipe. I was recovered to a Subaru garage (I was in Germany), they replaced something and welded the split in the downpipe but the problem remained. Oh and I was 567.99 Euro's lighter, trying to get that refunded by Subaru as we speak!
Any idea what the problem might be?
It's not booked into a UK garage until 12th May, is it reasonable to want new parts rather than splits welded considering it's will under Subaru warranty and covered 12k miles now I'm back in the country?
Thanks,
Mark

For a cast d/pipe bellmouth to split like that sounds like a defective part.
Was the welding work simply to get you home from Germany?
I can't see how IM Subaru are going to pay for that as a warranty job, but should stump up for a new d/pipe.
The weld quality looks like the downpipe wasn't removed and the nuts look like old ones, so how did they rack up £350 doing the job?
