Default Graphics on your Scoob?

Has anyone had/got graphics on their scoob and removed them?

Reason I ask is I am interested in viewing a Scoob for sale on here but has rally replica style graphics on it, seller says they have been on for nearly 2 years and my concern is if I was to buy the car and then remove the stickers (as it's not really my thing) would I be left with out-lines of the stickers or faded paint etc?

I guess the only way to be 100% sure is to see the car with them, or at least some, removed but the seller is not so keen as he might be wasting his time should he remove them and I then don't want the car because of any "imperfections" etc.

Anyone got any experience with this?

I bought a RST with graphics on it. I removed them after they had been on the car for around 2-3 years. They was a distinct outline on the car.

BUt I took it to a local garage who mopped them away and it only cost me £50 to do the whole car.

So I had a bartering point when I bought it, and when I got the car mopped I ended up with a much much better paint finsh.

If the graphics have only been on there for two years, they should be any problem. But of course the grpahics could be covering up scratches etc...

If the car is a metalic then paint fade shouldn't be a issue, what you will find is fine scratch's on the paint work where the stickers haven't been and if the car has had repairs in the past, then the sticker may bring the paint off or the sticker my even be hiding some bad paint work.

If all goes well with the removal then some hard work buffing and polishing should make the fine scratchs almost disappear altogether.

Default Hope this makes your desicion the right one ...

I had stickers on mine till the windows got smashed and then i decided to remove them. It took about 3 hrs from start to finish but with a heat gun its not so bad . Here are some pics of before and after and in between removing them , hope this helps . I washed the car after and you could still see where they had been so i used some thinners to remove them.

Then after a wash , dry and thinner clean ...

And at the local Hertz vs UKSC this was taken ...

I like to add, be bloody careful with the heatgun or more than stickers will be removed. I prefer to use the hairdryer to remove them. Also I found 'tar remover' done a good job to clean it up.

I kind of like the mirror effect it left on the paintwork. Probably looked rough up close, but...

Thanks for the replies so far guys, and thanks for posting the pics WAZO.

The car is a 2004 blue STI so I guess the blue will show up things more than say a silver car.

At the end of the day I don't want to go and shed out a load of money on a car only to find out it needs a load of paint/body work doing.............. oh decisions, decisions.

Yep, he used a heat gun, or a hair dryer (not sure which)
The car was an old WRX though, and the paint wasn't great anyway.

Ended up having a full re-spray.
