Default Replacing backbox - is paste needed?

Hi,
I am going to replace my backbox and have bought a new gasket and set of bolts.
Do I need to use exhaust paste between the gasket and pipes as well or not? The gasket seems 'self tightening' and can only be used once as far as I know, i.e. there is a small bulge which when tightened will flatten and provide the seal.
Thanks for letting me know soon as I plan to do it tonight or tomorrow.

Cheers,

As long as the mating faces are flat, theres no need for any additional sealant.
