seem to recall that RON rating in USA is different than in UK, hope so because looking at the pumps today the highest rating I could get was 93 RON!!! and I was getting grief for running on 95 RON over here.

so, what is the real equiv of US fuel to UK fuel.

anything like optimax over there, or at least SUL??

thanks for any info

Over here we call it Octane. I'm not quite sure of the real conversion is but I think that our 92octane is around 95Ron. I'm sure someone else can give the conversion.

IIRC it's a different rating. Fuel rating is done with MON and RON, we tend to use the (higher) RON rating, whilst the US uses the combined MON/RON rating.

MON/RON relates to the way of testing the fuel.

See for example http://www.refiningonline.com/Engelh...ep/TCR4_29.htm for a bit more info.

Plus the US can get the 118 Octane stuff pretty cheap! (well compared to UK prices!) - for the huge cubic monsters out there

Came across one at an event in the summer with over 950bhp!
