Default FCUKIN HORSES....!!!

does anybody else HATE horses

if there not being 'casually' ridden along the road (expecting everyone else to slow down and tip toe round em) there in the back of a flippin great stinky lorry (expecting everyone to slow down and then try and creep past em!)

they dont pay tax, insurance etc , they dont get tested to make sure their 'roadworthy' every year, they litter the road (if we chuck a sweet paper out we get fined, they are allowed to do great big shats in the middle of the road!)

Lets tax THEM off the road! not cars...!

rant over

Yeah I wonder if they'd pass an emissions test?

Maybe they'd need a shat-alytic converter fitting?!

I own two horses... and yep I sometimes take them out hacking on country roads/lanes....

What annoys me is the spotty oinks in their chav chariots that have no manners/patience/common sense regarding how to approach and/or overtake a horse....

But with a bit of luck they'll be the ones 'taxed' off the road fairly soon

Happens to me most days due to riding schools nearby - very annoying as you say. I don't slow down for them if I can help it - I don't mean tearing past at 100, but just not doing 2mph past them, more like whatever the speed limit is in that area.

You are spot on about the 'road apples' they leave everywhere - dog owners get fined for a little pavement painting never mind the half ton of fertiliser a horse leaves in it's wake. Madness! About time they changed the laws created in the 1800's that let horses rule the road

A showjumping horse sat on my old M3 bonnet & kicked in door & wing * almost killed me & my father by nearly falling onto my parked, stationary car!!.

I went through 1 year of insurance dealings & did not recieve a penny as animal damge is considered "act of god" unless you can prove rider was negligent. (almost imposssible) The rider at the time was on the horse who was some toff nose posh bird living in Chelsea admitted her fault but later changed her story. I eneded up paying to get it fixed myself as my insurance excess was £450 & was not protected ncb, hence not worth fixing through insurance. In the end cost me over £1k from my own pocket

SO now if I see a horse I give a really wide bearth or just turn the car around.

My girlfriend has a couple of horses and yes they are a pain in the ****.
One time there was a bunch of them on the road coming in to town and i thought ok i'll go past them slow(not overtaking just passing in other direction), was doing about 40 so very low revs in 5th, my car isnt that loud anyway.

Later on afterwards she said to me i should have gone slower

So next time i'll drop it to a lower gear at a slower speed with higher revs

Please cont get me wrong here, i NEVER race past or towards any horserider on the road, that would just be dangerous,

but

it annoys me that we have to pay all this money out to use the road, and horse riders dont.... what gives them the right to use the road? let alone EXPECT everyone else who has PAID there tax / insurance / mot to make consessions for them..?

if a car driver travelled along a road at under 5mph and other motorists had to drive round them, they would be pulled over and done for dangerous driving...!

its a strange country we live in

We have quite a few Horse Houses around my way and you never know whats around the next corner. I have to admit that I'm not really a Horsey person (cough cough) but I am not too keen when you get a massive horse wagen on the road doing 5MPH and being over careful.
The one thing that I do is slow right down to and give the horse a wide birth at 2 mph - not because of the person on the back of the horse but not to scare the Horse. I guess I'm just an animal person and can't stand tossers that drive too close to the Horses and spoke em. It's kinda like walking down the street and having a little scally-wag wizzing past you on his BMX inches away from.

Its not like they can travel long distances on horses tho. same thing for cyclists or people walking on roads they dont pay tax/insurance etc.
They dont get the added benefit of sitting in a warm car and not having to exercise while travelling(i believe horse riding is quite exhausting).

Horses can be insured, just not taxed or MOT'd lol

i m amazed that there is no requirement for insurance for people who use the road to exercise/move their horses.
there should be a legal requirement for some sort of insurance just like cars.

You are driving a car.... NOT a metalic horse.... thereby it's lunacy to even attempt to compare them. The Highway Code and Road Traffic Act set out the framework for what is/is not acceptable on our roads and not the fact that you have an MoT, Insurance and pay for a Road Fund License.

I'm guessing you must also hate cyclists?

what horses really like is when you go past them at around 45 in second, decellerating with anti lag switched on....

the owners find it very amusing too.... try it!!

and yes i hate them on the road.
one guy was in some gippo looking trap thing in rush hour doing 5 mph hogging the road and i had to either rip it past him or go slow and risk the possibility of an oncoming car coming the other way!!!

nope, cyclists are ok i spose, they dont :
-hold me up
-shout abuse is i travel at more than 2.5mph past them
-put there bikes in a stinky **** box lorry and go for miles and miles at 10mph

all road users should have to use the SAME rules, so if you cant :
-keep up with traffic flow
-take out insurance in case you damage someone elses propperty / kill someone
-wait till you get home to take a dump

you should keep off the highway

I agree with you it should be a legal requirement for horses to have insurance when their on public roads, it is kinda stupid that its not cos they are big animals and can cause serious damage not just to cars. And there should be something about cleaning up the mess they make. Its like walking or cycling theres no legal requirement for insurance for that either and that can be just as much of a danger.

When I lived in Oxfordshire the horses on the road used to annoy me immensely. I personally think they are a danger on our roads as the above pics shows and the above story of the lad having to fork out for car repairs.

I think if you use the road, you should be insured in some way.

Anyone remember that thread about the guy having his car damaged by cows and it resulted in the guy beating the farmer up and ending in jail for 18 months?

Can you explain to me how you stop a horse from taking a ****?

i've got a westie, and the other day he had just nipped one off i was doing the dutiful pooper scooper bit as two ladies drove past on their horses,
one of which shart itself massively as it walked past us
no attempt was made to pick it up and the lady shrugged her shoulders at me.

Oh dear . Yes, I am a horse owner and scooby owner but my worse suspicions are being confirmed in this thread. The reason I bought so heartily into the Subaru brand originally (7 in 6 years) is that owners enjoyed their cars safely and respectfully. Those days are plainly numbered as more and more subarus are bought up by Halfords' Heroes across the country.
I never thought I would say it but it's time to leave for a more robust and grown-up brand. A sad day

why is that anyone with an opinion is branded a 'Halfords Hero' ??? just cos i dont think horses have a place on the road doesn t mean im a 'chav'..

maybe you could buy another big stinking sherpa horse box when you sell your subaru ?
