Question How many miles for brake pads?

Just took the Scoob for it's MOT and got an advisory on the front brake pads, these were fitted 12 months ago and have only done 9k

I don't consider myself particularly hard on the brakes, is this normal??

I may get accused of driving like PSLewis here, but I'm on 27k with original pads! 03 STi with a reasonable amount of power!
Driving technique has a lot to do with it. Also, were the new pads standard Subaru? The old discs will cause high wear rate, initially, on new pad, until they bed- in to the profile of the worn disc.

Discs were changed at the same time as the pads, the OEM pads lasted until 21k, the new pads were 'OEM equivalent' not Subaru.

Could be a lesson not to buy the cheapest option

My OEM disc/pads were swapped after 13k for some performace ones. The guy checking the discs used a blacklight and could see heat marks in various places and advised to not sit with foot brake on when stood still - I have always done this (only used h/brake when parked). Since then I use h/brake at lights, queues, etc - never sit with footbrake on so pads/disc are not burning each other.

As to replay to original question - advisory meaning 70%+ wear? How many mm left on the pads? You might still see a few thousand miles on them if only 70%

Had mine changed this week. I'd done 33,000 on the originals.
