Seen alot of very lovely spoilers on the back of peoples cars.

i was driving home the other day when i saw two blokes walk up to a car and they both pulled the spoiler off together, then got back into their car and drove off.
it was not a scooby.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

(i didnt stop bcuz they were big geezas, didnt see reg number)

There is a P1 for sale in Motornation at the Radleys near Sheldon. Looks like someone has tried to pull the spoiler off as it just has the base and two very jagged sides. All of the P1 badges have been screwdriverd off aswell. They are still asking £28000 for it.

I've heard of someone getting their rear spoiler and bonnet vent ripped off

But what exactly can you do to stop these scumbags ? Not a lot I don't think.

My spolier was stolen while on vacation in France
last summer.

The part that really amazed me is that the police caught
the thief later. The guy was caught red-handed stealing
something else and they searched his apartment and found
a lot of other stolen stuff, including my spoiler. Didn't
bother to go back to France to get it though since it was
damaged and I have a new one.

Sorry i didnt get the Reg

How is the spoiler fixed on, is there any way you can made it more secure? E.G, larger bolts, more bolts, large plate between boot and spoiler, re-inforce spoiler or lots of stickey tape.

I know a bloke that has an old Jag and he welded a large metal plate under his bonnet to keep his Jag thing on.

Would it not be possible for an alarm to sense someone pulling at your spoiler at set it off??? I'm sure that would deter most thieves..

The clifford Concept 500 has a dual proximetry sensor, which can be configured, so that it sets the alarm off, if someone is near your car for more than a period of time...

Not got this yet, but definately gonna get it!

If your spoiler has a brake light then it is easy enough to get your alarm wired in a closed loop through this, I know I do.

I'm not about to explain how the std spoiler is held on on a bbs, but suffice to say now I know I could remove one very quickly with no damage to the car, I would recommend fixing it properly with body panel glue or similar.

We replace at least 1 spoiler a month (that we know about) due to theft. Most like Robbie take the opportunity to change to a different type.
Sadly, it isn't just confined to the UK; I know victims in the USA, France, Sweden, Luxembourg, Germany, etc.

Some of the new spoilers we have now come with security straps that are bolted inside the bootlid if the owners want to do this.

I have a vibration sensor, which at the moment is attached to my Front spoiler. When I get my rear Spoiler (and the Scoob), this will be fitted underneath it on the boot, with a closed lop as mentioned by robertio.

Happened to me too

The replacement one I bought from DR Motorsport is held on with more bolts than the standard one and with the bottom plate running the full length of the boot, it would be a bit more difficult to steal.

However, if the ba$tards want it, they'll take it.

Still boils my blood....

Had mine nicked as well.

Have been paranoid about it going again ever since. It is always the first thing I check when returning to the car.

Some dealers are now removing them from all the cars on the forecourt.

Know a guy who had his bonnet vent ripped off. Didn't know they were that easy to remove?

Makes you angry every time you see some **** little Nova GTE with a scoob vent on the bonnet. (Yes, I know some of these clowns actually buy Scoob vents from a dealer, but you always think the worst - I'm sure most of them are nicked anyway).
