I always lower my cars but are the aftermarket kits a downgrade from sti suspension? Obviously unless you get coilovers etc but I dont want them I would just like it a little lower. Is it worth just getting prodrive springs?

I wouldn't say that it's a downgrade, just depends on what springs you go for. I'd say maybe -30mm should be enough, personally I wouldn't go more.

Look in technical>suspension and there should be plenty of discussions there.

Yeah I have been reading some of the comments I just cant make my mind up. I wouldnt go lower than about 30mm anyway as my front splitter would be quite low!! I said I would never have a lowered car again after my Clio. (that was on coilovers and quite low) It was more of a pain than anything! I couldnt take it hardly anywhere! However, the arch gap is horrendous on Subarus!

I always have found the Prodrive spring kits for the Newage STi (a different spring for the newage WRX) a good compromise between handling, looks and comfort.

I had tried Eibach spring kit on my 02STi and replace them with Prodrive springs. The Eibachs were slightly lower on the Front end than Prodrive ones. On bumpy roads around my way, Eibachs did bottom out prodrives didn't

Eibach only do a single spring kit for a Newage "Impreza" it does not take into account the front end wieght difference between the STi and WRX IMHO

I have AST Coilovers on my 06 Type20 most problems with coilovers are how comfortable (normally on lighter rear end) they are on the softest setting. Powerstation latest dampener jettings and a Tapered rear spring using the existing top mount seem to give fair levels of Comfort. IIRC

I hade Teins on my WRX then my STI. I can't fault them and they made the car look how it should.
I also had a splitter and it rarely cought on any speed humps etc.
