my husbands car broke down - it made a noise like a loose belt but when i checked it was fine, after turning the car off it would not start again.

i had it towed to the nearest subaru garage (which is in germany) and have told me that they have now got it started but there is still a noise (like a loose belt) coming from the engine.

so they have told me that it will cost me 800 euros to take the engine out to find out what the problem is before even starting to fix it. i wondered if anyone may know what could be causing this problem as i havent got a clue and dnt want to be ripped off!!
