CHu

Yeah but its nothing more than a Holden,,Crap,,,,,,car

I live with them every day in OZ so I know what I am talking about.

Do you like oil leaks?
Failing Power Steering Pumps?

heaps of other things too. (all bad)

ME?

I have a scooby MY01 chip and exhaust...
goes like the clappers, is totally reliable
Has 4 WHEEL DRIVE.
Wont flick out around wet round abouts
Has excellent brakes.
Do I have to go on.

Sorry mate but your'e in a rotten holden.

Grow up and buy a decent car...hell you live in UK and have access to so many really good cars...
Why import Junk from the otherside of the planet?
Dangerous car....

So holdens are that bad in the land of OZ then........Who gives a $hit!!! its got 410BHP!!!! and i do have a scooby as well!!! In the land of down-under the HSV might be as common as muck but in the UK its something differant...something to sneak up on unsusected BMW drivers!!(M3 or M5) the scooby is good but as i have a baby on the way and the scooby is only a two door. i need something more practical!!!

BTW still love my scooby!!

Roll on Exmoor!!

Hey Chu,

Ignore bugwaan, he's obviously an overjealous ford driver

HSVs are very nice, had one myself back in Oz. Just don't work out how cheap you could have bought the same car in Oz you won't be happy.

Enjoy the car, I know you will.

Andrew.

Is this what you've got?

Chu, out of interest how did you buy the HSV?, did you import it yourself, use a specialist importer etc. etc. I've been looking at holden and hsv websites for a while now, have you seen the Maloo and SV300?

CHU

Can you tell me what you ended up paying for the GTS?
Is it the current 300kw version? If so they cost about AUD$100,000 & that is why I bag the car. Its a great car but not relative to the cost. I suspect a locally purchased M5 BMW wouldnt have cost that much more. I also know that poor old Holden will never compete with a BMW. Sure....straight line speed is neither here nor there once we are talking 250+ KW....But its just the way it goes about its business that i dont like,
The HSV commodores are merely base model cars...with full on engines..nicer cabins etc....but the heart and soul is always and will always be that of a taxi...
I dont mean to dissapoint you ....but.....
Also....it does nothing but rain in the UK...so why in the world would you want a car with so much grunt powering thru its rear wheels....and you want to put a baby in the back....
ou should be ashamed..
The safety on the holden is substandard compared to nearly any other car with a similar price tag.....
Baby....HSV......Wheelspin......dont do it.

Get a 540i if you need something bigger.

And you own a scooby....surely you can appreciate the handling differences already..

I drove a SS ute Holden 255kw for a week....
Crappy dangerous car...heap of fun but super dangerous...
please reconsider for your babys sake.

Get a bimmer, a saab, or a volvo...

(sorry guys...yes a volvo)..

not scoob..as i am thinking about its strength in a crash..

hell knows the commodore aint strong enough!!

Great cars those HSVs. I used to own a 1988 HSV Group A Commodore (Walkinshaw) number 070 of 750 built, back in OZ. It was a top car.

I own a MY00 rex now, modded, but IMHO there is nothing quite like a V8, especially the sound. Don't get me wrong, I love my rex too and it's quicker than the Walkie, but because I grew up with V8s, a Ford XA GT, modded with a 560hp engine (rex, no where near as quick ), and then the Walkie which I left as a stocker, (IMHO never modify a collectors item), I have a soft spot for the V8. Couldn't own a V8 here in Greece due to taxation reasons, so I got my self the rex which sounds close to a V8, goes faster than a stock V8 and has superb handling.

I miss the sound of an eight. I have not seen one over here yet, in the 1 1/2 years I've been here.

But I love my scoob and if I could, I would like to have both, the scoob and a V8. If I had to choose, I'd toss a coin.

Enjoy tour car m8!!!

Cheers,

Wrexy.

....... so what you are saying is that the car is unsafe?!.... just wondering what would be more deadly!!!rear wheel drive drift or 4 wheel drive drift..... mmmmm i know which i would have a better chance in catching in the wet on a round-a-bout!! still its the driver at the end of the day!!

but just wondering when you say that the car is unsaft in crashes, in what way do you mean?? they say it has full crash pulse optimisation and impact absorption drawing on saabs pioneering side and offset impact research. and also 4 air bags!!how would it compare with the scooby in a crash?? i have seen what they look like in crashs from minor to full cut out jobs!!at the end of the day it would be a boring world if we all went for the same cars...right?? Also did the GTS-R not out lap the M5 the the "ring".?? anyhow i stll have a long time before i can get to know the car....

www.hsvuk.com

im in exeter most of the time!!! colour?"they only come in black sir!!

I brought the car from a specalist!! in Bradford nr leeds!!
i took it to the holden dealer the next day to get it looked over....no probs with it at the mo!!
the only problem that i dont like about it is that its 6000miles servce intervies!!! i was also suprised about it only having only 1 yr warrintie with it when it was new!!!

i think that answers most of the questions!!

Firstly...4 wheel drift? on the road...you must be mad..
Either your WRX or the GTS-R would be going so fast to induce 4 wheel drift that it would be stupid to try.
Secondly...I was referring to crash worthiness vs a BMW or Saab or Benz or Volvo. Its no worse than an opel or any big sized fords that are on sale in UK. Its just that it doesnt stack up to the aforementioned cars in terms of safety. As for the safety of the WRX...I have no idea...fairly avg i expect.
Anyways..if you are after 4 wheel drift then buy a big safe AUDI S8..coz you will need it.

Traction control?
HAH!!!
Its nothing more than a ****ty australian design (cheap) that works by actually pushing the accellerator back up against your foot when it senses wheel spin. There is no fancy stability control and all that stuff that gently applies brake to the spinning wheel(s). Its a rather pathetic system actually....certainly compared to a BMW, AUDI, or Benz.

As for the roundabout..I know you couldnt catch it if you lost it coz there aint no room for error. Youd at very least whack a wheel into the gutter, if not 2...maybe 4.

I raced my standard MY01 (back when it was standard..6mths ago) at Sandown raceway in Melbourne against a 300kw GTS-R and sure it was quick but as it was bucketing down with rain...I killed him under brakes and around EVERY corner. I cant even count how many times he did a full 180 around the corners....

Sorry Chu...
I'll take a 4 wheel drive car any day over the commodore.

PS: You never did say how much you paid for the car..

I have spoken to HSVUk about the traction control, the unit which they use in the GTS-R UK is differant to the standard items, they do cut engine power and applie braking power to the spinning wheel!!there are also other changes to the UK spec GTS-R which differ to the ones down under.

i agree with you that te scooby would run rings around the HSV but its not what i got it for!! if i wanted to be the fasted on track i would of gone for a track car like a caterham or westfield or even a lotus!!! but thats not the reson i got the car for!! you take a car on track to see what you and its limits are dont you?? at the end of the day its a big car so only realy suited for fast tracks with long straghts and swooping bends!!but saying that the HSV is 231bhp/ton to the scoobys 219bhp/ton

i pay aprox £35k for the car its just over a yr old. and only one of 12 in the UK (no.007)

as for its crash strenth......scooby or HSV..........

Christ almighty some ppl cant be happy for anyone when they have spent a packet on a new car

Chu, enjoy the car..... just because bugwaan doesnt like them dont mean they are crap.... Hell I dont like Imprezas but does that mean they are crap cars ??

Like any car, it will take a bit of getting used to RWD when coming from a 4WD car.... But it can be more fun when you get used to it

I see by some of your replies that someone here has swayed your mind to almost hating the car when you have only just got it.... thats not fair on the car now is it ??

See what YOU think as you may like the car.

CHU...& everyone else...

You all got me wrong..
Mate...I am happy for you that you have your pride and joy baby HSV ...drive and enjoy...
I was more shocked than anything else...
See over here in the land of OZ...all the good Euro cars cost a fortune....hence thats why the commodore sells so well down under...its built to a price...
To you guys...sure..it seems exoxtic...to us...just another car...
Much like you guys talk about the m3 bmw..
To us ozzies..its rated as just about the best all round car in the world..as is the M5...S8 AMG etc...
Thats why I questioned your choice of car...

AS for the traction control.....
It goes to show that they had to change it for the Euro market as the original system would have been laughed at

Chu.....ENJOY YOUR CAR!!!

15,000 KM maybe....definately not miles.....
AS for the replacement exhaust.....what for?
HSV have extracted pretty much all there is to get.....why muck around with spares on a spanking new car?

I'm amazed that someone living in England would consider buying a car that 'Chu s' that much fuel...from what I understand fuel is NOT exactly cheap there? Some people are obviously NOT short of cash! The car handles like a pig here in Oz on mostly dry roads so should be real fun in the mother country...
Enjoy...just try remember once you lose control of that car ....your gone...and you WILL lose it way earlier than in the WRX...way earlier....The commodore HSV is notorious for NO traction in the WET over here! Best of luck with it!

anyone want to buy a holden?? hehe
have been driving it around for a week now, fuel wise its aprox. the same as the STI!! it all depends how you step on it!! and its 95 as well!! not 97!!
as for losing control of the car in the wet..... dont all powerful RWD cars do that!!BMWs,TVRs,Lotus etc...i know that you can not beat AWD for traction!! but one has to know the time and place to step on it right?!
