Bought some new headlight bulbs for my barge and got some free Phillips sidelight bulbs thrown in.
So, seeing as the scoob sidelights look very yellow compared to the headlights and knowing how much nicer white bulbs look, I thought I'd just go and pop them in. Yeah right.
Managed to get the nearside one in after 20 mins swearing and cut hands and after that couldn't be bothered to go and get the tools out to change the off side one. Why do they have to make things so bl00dy awkward..? I WAS thinking of changing the awful indicator bulbs for Silvatecs until I looked to see how much of a PITA they'd be to get to...!!
I'm reasonably handy when it comes to messing about with cars, but flippn' heck...!! To cap it all I dropped one of those little plastic retainer things down into the blackness of the engine bay.
I'd like to see someone replace a blown bulb on a petrol station forecourt.....

I got some osram nightbreakers and went through the process of taking off the headlights. Mine's a Blobeye and it was a total f**king nightmare. I second your thought's you are not alone.
Even better I found out the company had sent me the wrong size bulbs. Needless to say that the lights will not be coming off again.

I've got a Hawkeye and was going to change the indicators but it is a nightmare. Had a Blobeye before and it was easy.
On the hawkeye the only way to do this is through the wheelarch liner or you take the bumper off.

I changed mine on a Hawkeye took me about an hour lol.
If you move your hand about find a space where you can grip it for example on the Passenger side I was looking down the side of the car with my left hand behind me.
Good luck they look nice in the end

the indicator bulbs are a PITA to swap, but you will soon find your way,its like sticking your hand up a cow's ****

also, painted them black, with clear bulbs all round

Indicators are not that bad, wheel off, unscrew/bend back the inner arch and in goes your hand, bit of a reach but possible, near side was easier IIRC.
Side repeaters, 3 attempts and a lot of cuts but managed in the end!!!

To change the side repeaters, not hard at all.Gently push them to the right and they pop out

To change the sidelights.
Remove the air intake(2x8mm hex head nuts .o/s)and unpop the clip on the washer bottle(n/s)and move it to one side, you then have easy access to change the bulbs...altho I iirc I did use some long nose pliers to get a grip of the bulb holder to twist it out
I have weird looking sidelight bulbs I do

dead bright tho

For the actual indicators bulb themselves.
Well this is a bit of a work up!,altho it can be done without removing the wheels, bumper or anything else,it's just gonna hurt a 'lil bit doing the drivers side
Access can be gained by folding back the plastic wheel liner, lay on your back reach up and the nearside bulb can easily be reached, just that on the drivers side the airbox snorkel is in the way...but with a little perseverance and major contortionism it can be done in about 15 mins

PMSL..!!!!
I've just got back indoors after giving my runabout a strip out and tidy up before I sell it. Before I did that though, I was determined not to let some modern car beat me and had another crack at the sidelights and I decided to do my indicators for good measure
.
Sidelights done through engine bay and twisty wrists and scratched hands. Indicators done through the arch liners coupled with twisty wrists, some good dexterity and a bit of swearing. All done and I'm a happy chappy...!!
However, I wish I'd revisted this thread before I started to see what you guys had posted up...!!!
They are excellent how-to's for anyone contemplating the same. Well done chaps...

They look a bit like these I've just fitted to my Blobeye:
501/194/T10 New Mini Light Tower 9 Leds Xenon White
Much brighter/whiter than the led ones I had in for 12mths, before one went on the blink..!
FWIW with blobeye's you have no choice but to remove the headlamp to change sidelight bulbs..
Elmer, whilst you're about, can you remember roughly what you paid for the rear diffuser you fitted to your 05 sti..?
