Got a couple of problems with my MY00 at the moment and it might need to have a new turbo. As someone with limited knowledge of mechanics, is it possible to put a more powerful turbo on to the car and, if so, what other changes need to be made (ECU, etc) and what would be recommended?

Also, turbo currently kicks in at just short of 3000 revs, would a more powerful turbo make this even later?

depends on spec of the turbo, you'll have a td04 on there at the min, a vf35 or vf34 will be capable of 350 at a push and with right supporting mods, and should only add a few hundred revs to the peak boost point. will also pull all through the revs, from initial boost through to red line

It's not as simple as just strapping a bigger turbo on there if you want to get the best out of it, mate: you need supporting mods and a remap. Check out what I did to my MY99 for some ideas, then speak to someone like David at APi
