New STi - Jap or UK model ??
I think I read the UK's new STi would be 2.5l, the Jap STi would be 2.0 litre capacity, both with appropriate turbos, mapping etc.
Which is thought to be the "best" for power, torque, driveability, and gadgets like DCCD ??
Any other changes between Jap and UK cars beyond engine capacity?
Or have I got all misled ... and both are same?
Ta

Hard to say
the new 2.0ltr JDM bottom end has evolved over the last 8 years and should get with the right tweaks 420bhp
although the Bottom end on the 2.5ltr is an unknown factor
The JDM has a quicker Rack and 4-2-1 equal lenght headers the UK Cast unequal.
IMHO IIRC

You have to remember that most motoring journalists were not impressed with the bug or the blob eye cars, but grew to like them more and more

Cheers ... is it me and people called Tony on this thread!
5th gear didn't mention the other electronic features - OK was a short slot - like the manual settings of the DCCD, the 3 different Si-drive settings, and the EBC/ABS/traction control type stuff. The Subaru pages even have guides for best settings for various drivings styles!
Got a testdrive next week, I'll see then vs my heavily modded classic wagon!

Collected MY08 STI today and trust me it is a huge improvment over previous models.
5th Gear's test was awful and reported nothing that is relevant to everyday driving
I looked at JDM vs UK vs EU and top spec E.U was the one for me.
Good luck with your search.

Not too sure if the balance has been addressed with the new models but previous JDMs have always been superior to equivalent uk specs.

IMHO they both have their positives and negatives and it really depends what you want from a car. The 2.5ltr obviously has more torque and wider power band, but the 2.0ltr revs higher and has more of an "all-in-one" punch in terms of power delivery.
