Talking 207 cc . . 320 BHp . . .Why???

Greeting my good followers of the Scoobynet . . .

. . . .So there I was taking my Scoob to the Albanian car wash to get it washed . . .So at some point, the head Albanian comes up to me and starts talking to me about the Scoob, asking how many break it is and the sorts . .

At which point he states that "Me and Scoobs go a long way back . . .I've raced the meanest Scoobs in my RX7 and beaten them all" . . .So immediately me thinks that this guy is a complete tool . .If he's beaten Scoobs , it weren't the ones I've seen, and not with his tax engine that no mechanic would touch . .

But don't let me digress . . .He then points out his 207 cc claiming it makes 320 bhp . . .I did not want to cuss this guy and his car to the ground given that he was 1) quite a big fella 2) the Albanian propensity to readily resort to violence . . .

So my question is ...I do not know much about modifying, so I just wanted to ask ... 1) Why would some one modify a girls/hairdressers car to that kind of power . . AND 2) Is it possible to modify such a flimsy car to that kind of power . . Surely the reinforcement of the chassis will add astronomical weight thus canceling out the gain in power . . . .

Next time ask him for a look under the bonnet and see if you can see the "turbo" or "supercharger" which he would have used to achieve those brilliant figures.

Not easy from a n/a car of 2.0l, would think it fitted with a blower or turbocharger instal to get those sort of figures.

207CC is around 170BHP(from memory), so already in a reasonable state of tune to double that safely would require serious £££'s

I would be polite and ask him for a look around the engine bay and get him to point out the mods to you.

If fitted with an induction kit and superchips sticker then probably not 320bhp

Not just the engine would need work - brakes, drivetrain and suspension would need some work as well.

Maybe he has been watching the F&F films just a little too often

It wont be the standard engine in the front you need to look at it, it'll be the 5.0 V8 with nitrous in the boot that gives him the real power.

I dont know what it is, but whenever someone starts chatting about the Impreza, they always say they have a mate who has some little hot hatch that is running 800bhp or something stupid.

Personally I reckon they buy 20 of those 'get 10bhp instantly' resistors off Ebay and connect them in series.
