Never get a black car !!!!!
I've spent 4 hours today cleaning, polishing, and waxing the motor and i tell you i wish i hadn't bothered it's so demoralising everytime i clean it i find another mark which on any other colour car you wouldn't notice, and after polishing and waxing all i can see is white speckles of dust everywhere, it looked better dirty, i definatly want a silver car next, far less stressfull !!!

i know where you're coming from as soon as a bit of wet/dew gets on it it looks like crap again .when polished they look stunning just do'nt last that long.as for polish try aquawax by autoglym just squirt it on and rub it in no dust residue or white bits .

Learnt that lesson years ago. Plus you can't go anywhere near a car wash with Black paint.
Doesn't stop me wanting a Black car everytime I order a new one

That's definitely one advantage of white - although it's equally as bad to keep clean as black, at least when you polish it the dust isn't visible... It's typical that the best car colours (black and white) are also the hardest to keep looking nice...

I just don't wash it.
I think AndyFs comments on monday were: "Is that a black car under there?"
Aye, but when it's done, you have to admit it's the dogs baws. I'm not sure white was any better.

Yep done mine today. Thought I would do it quite quickly as I clay barred it last time. Still took about three hours and as soon as it rains thats it. Clay bar is good as you get a really deep shine afterwards as it gets the paintwork really smooth.

Just wipe off with the microfibre you dried the car with after washing ? Or use a new microfibre ?

Tell me about; Think dust is bad, wait 'til it gets some scratches and dents: Did a bare metal respray on the old mans Jag. Concours paint job.
What happens? Some bodgit and scarper "expert" works on various mechanicals on the car.
In that single week it obtained scratches on the tops of both front wings (either from grit on the "protective" matt or mucky overalls), plus pressure dents from leaning over onto the wings, and a ding on the rear wing, which includes a minor chip.
Because the body was 100% flawless and had a perfect mirror finsih, what wouldn't be noticeable on a car with a factory black paint job is much more noticable on this.
And everytime I look at it the first things I see are those defects. The one ding has chipped through the paint - a micro repair will stick out like a sore thumb, and the scratches are so deep it'll make the clear coat wafer thin if I try and cut it out. Why did I bother?

Exactly the same here. In a good year I wash the car twice perhaps, last time was August if memory serves. When we had a bad water shortage she was 'dirty' for over a year. Black is a royal pain in the bum but I wouldn't have a blue scoob if you paid me .

Black *shudder*
Looks totally awesome on a damp or misty day. You get that thin film of water that goes over the paint and it just looks the best thing on wheels.
Complete and total pain in the **** to keep clean though. Never again will I have a black car. Far too much hassle to attempt to keep it clean. The last black car I had was in a city (Nottingham). I'd wash it, dry it, and 15 mins later it was covered in a very visible city grime. Any other colour and it was fine.
My personal experience is Black < Blue < White < Silver. Silver is the mutts nuts, you can do just about anything to it and it still looks good.

I use maguires 3 stage stuff and got to say it does a great job. What i like about my black car is even after its rained it still shines so i dont mind the extra effort in time and aching arms
