I just bought my FIRST Subaru Impreza Turbo!!
Wooo hoo!!
I don't collect it until Wednesday next week and OMD am I excited!
Its a 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000, 56000 on the clock with 1 owner. As part of the deal price they are replacing the Air Flow Meter to allign the tick over + changing the CAM belt. The car has been serviced every January and July since 2001 but has no record of the cam belt being done. In the log book it idicates it should have been doen at 45000 so i thought it best to get them to do it before buying. I think it worls out at about £160 for the cam belt change and fit this way.. not bad from what i have heard.
Sales price was £5345 + cam belt + air flow meter = £5,550.

Very nice. Well done. My first was a DBM MY00 with leather and eleccy Sunroof and Air-con
And it was the first time I drove an Impreza Turbo that won me over.
Looks like yours has a prodrive exhaust on it. Has it got the PPP kit fitted? As the orignal turbos had the twin peashooter exhaust.

Right now I don't have any plans because I really wouldn't know where to start. From what I can gather the fact that it has a pretty low mileage means it would be a good one to mod.
Has anyone got any suggestions on increasing exceleration ?

Your back box is after-market but it could be any of a number of manufacturers.

The backbox is defo aftermarket as said above, prodrive/h&s maybe?
It also looks slightly lowered to me - looks about the same ride height as mine (Eibachs), but could be wrong there as the pics are quite small.
Check my <------Plus Profile.
If you want more power it'll cost you about a grand which will transform your drive. Filter swap, exhaust downpipe¢er, remap will see you at about 270-280bhp/lbft with a lot better driveability all round. You will currently have 215bhp, maybe a couple more due to the backbox swap.
I know as this is exactly what I did with my UK Turbo MY00 in DBM
If you want more then things get more pricey - turbo swap, uprated fuel pump etc. etc.
Believe me, 270-280bhp/lbft in a classic thats been properly remapped is plenty. Also if you stick with the original TD04 turbo is gives great early spool up.
Looks a good example btw

Get used to it as std first mate; it's a very capable car and as soon as you go down the modding route, well it's a slippery slope and an expensive slide!

welcome mate looks like a nice clean car! your already on the slope and theres no choice your going to slide into modding it it's not a case of if more when and what i would recomend you look at the handling and brakes first ie roll bars, drop links, anti lift kit. and splash out on some decent brake pads, ferrodo ds2500 do the job accompanied by some decent tyres and laser allignment that lot should keep you busy for a while and not cost a fortune!

Mate.. lovely looking car !
I'm still on my First Turbo and still love her after nearing 3 years !
One thing I would suggest is stay off the power on corners for now. A standard doesn't have enough to throw you on a straight, unless you hit something or something breaks, but if you floor it in a corner and your not expecting the boost you'll be hedged in no time!!

I know you won't listen to me (I didn't) so welcome to Subaru ownership ....

Will mean that the car as standard will be pushing out 215BHP. If you have indeed got the PPP kit fitted the car will be pushingout 245BHP or thereabouts. If you have the PPP kit fitted then you should have got a Prodrive certificate with the car to say it was fitted.
