Default painted calipers

hi
i have four pots on the front of my classic but i want them painted (powder coated?)

dont want to just paint them with a brush ,

if they are powder coated , is there companys that do the hole thing

if i was to take them off myself and strip them down , what will i need to buy new ?? seals etc??

and what sort of price am i looking at (hole job and diy)

cheers phil

I'm not sure you'll want them to put a hole in them.

i used smoothrite after using the dremmel to get rid of the corrosion - mixed some silver and gold together in a aerosol lid to get a bronze finish - perfect, wish i'd taken some pics

did you just paint them while on the car or did you remove them and the pads first

cheers phil

robby I was thinking of doing mine red. but the gold looks great with the silver wheels. where did you get the paint and how long did you wait for it to dry? i was told to do the white subaru writing by pressing a piece of white painted cork onto the writing.

I used hammerite smoothrite - great finish

the rears are as in pic so for the lettering just mask the area, for the fronts i just painted over but you could use your method for a better finish

i was going to do them black but they wouldn't stand out and red is too common

I used a small brush and very steady hand to do the lettering on mine was a pain in the ***.

I pretty much went by 'Frayz's' how to guide.
Albeit I wouldn't recommend using the degreaser to clean
the calipers as this is too harsh for the seals if you aren't
removing them, but this is pretty much what you can achieve :

Before,

After,

I strictly didn't only use high temp paint either, it looked more grey
when it dried so a top coat of high gloss Hammerite did the trick, then the other coats of laquer etc.

If you've got the time then do it properly it's well worth it

Craig.
