Default REV LIMIT ON STI IMPORT

Hi there
just join this forum tonight.
Quite new to a scooby just bought one after 7yrs
My question is
I have a WRX STI 1997 Import 280BHP model and i'm concerned about the rev limit. It been De limited on top speed and i strayed over the 8000rpm mark (well off the rev clock) and no revlimit kicked in. A friend of mine has the same model and his is limited to 7000rpm and the red line starts there to. Mine starts at 8000rmp but like i said went of the clock (this was by accident)

Can anyone confirm wat the rev limit should be on them.

Thanks very much and hope to here from someone soon,

Dave

import STI have a red line starting around 8k rpm
WRX and UK models have red line starting at 7k rpm

I have no idea if any of those models have a limiter, or where it kicks in. I don't spin my engine up anywhere near that hard.

so the rev limit is 8000rpm?
I have been changing at 6500rpm just to be on the safe side until it could be confirmed that i can push it to 7500rpm with no worries

Thanks for the advice guys

You can push to 7500rpmh as long as you are running 99RON or you have had a re-map - otherwise your fun may well be short lived

The rev limit is 8250rpm. Obviously, the dial might be abit out. I have had both an sti 3 (97) and an sti 4 (98) both of which had 8250rpm limits.
