Default Trapped by Your Scoob

Does anyone else feel like this.

I am on my 4th scoob and each time I have gone back to one is mainly due to missing the rush of the noise, acceleration and the club side of things.

I know there are equally good and probably many better than the scoob but what else can give me what I get from my Impreza.

As much as I love the car I also feel annoyed by the running costs, image they can have etc, but as soon as I start looking at alternatives they all seem so anonymous and lifeless.

So there I am back with a scoob but really wanting to move away from them completely.

Anyone else feel like this at times?

second all the above

i am on my 5th now, and cant sem to get away from them either. cracking cars and for the money not much else out there imo, other than the evo

not a fan myself of the 300zx, supra etc etc skyline to big had a supra nightmare to park. audi s3,4's, rs4, m3, vxr, golf r32 all good but lack something imo driven a couple of them just missed something.

looks like it might be the evo but the higher purchace cost, servicing etc puts me off so back to the scoob, just like a tube of pringles once you pop you just cant stop lol

Yes
You summed it up.
Everything else dosent quite do it for me. I dive a fair few ´´better´´ cars usualy german stuff -but they all leave me a little bit cold.
I havent even owned one for a couple of years but have just got the pennies together for my third.
Yet another love hate relationship ...here we come! Arggg

Closest thing on four wheels you can get to woman.... temperamental, expensive but I love em with a passion

I just have to accept that I am a diehard enthusiast.

Yep totally.

Mine has bought me such pain and grief yet I cant let go.

I have just bought a £500 rover 200 to eat all the work miles I do because I want to keep the scoob mint, It hurts me to see all the stone chips on the front bumper, the tar spots etc.....

I cant bear to see the work miles slowly eat away at it.

So many people say to me "just sell it and get a golf" - I know this would be a mistake.

My mate had a few and sold to get a deisel - he said to me "you know that last classic I had - I just wish I had never sold it".

How refreshing that I am not alone. Just comeback to my fourth after 4months out with an Exige, a truly beautiful car but just doesn't give me the 4wd option I need around here. The car spent more time on the drive than off it meaning I had to have a second car which generally sent me to sleep. The Impreza combines everything sadly including the costs.

I am constantly on the look out for an alternative particularly with the new 'Mazda' version upon us which is one of the reasons I returned so quickly so I could buy one of the few remaining untouched hawk-eyes. My previous Sti was blue with gold wheels and a few clients made 'lairy' remarks to my bosses which pushed me into changing. The new one is silver with 18 inch Prodrive silver wheels so much more discreet until they see the spoiler.

I was quite excited about the new RS Focus due next year but rumour has it they have scrapped the 4wd. The Celica / Subaru looks good but some time away who knows by then they may have performed the traditional facelift on the new Impreza but for me it is the bit above the rear wheels which I hate so I can't see them changing that easily.

One of my mates had a gorgeous Bugeye Prodrive (picture below doesnt do it enough justice because it looked amasing!) and chopped it in for an Evo 8 MR which he loves to bits... he still pines for his scoob back though:

Technically the MR is a massive leap ahead, but you cant beat the heart of a scoob. Its the reason i ended up with one... and although i window shop other cars i find the moment i step back into my scoob i slap myself for even thinking about leaving!

Just something you cant explain.

The only reason I wanted to change was as I said the 'Racer Boy Image', but having now ditched the gold alloys she looks sweet and I couldn't give a hoot about what people think anymore. The 18 inches make a vast difference too just hope they stop putting the tax up.

On my first one but can't imagine owning anything else - think my next purchase will be a 270 Wagon, even the new STi is starting to appeal after the EVO Scoob/Lambo article.

OK, I could be tempted by a E39 M5, but they never made an estate and the new ones don't appeal. Maybe an RS4 avant, but I've driven loads of A4's and never really got on with them.

So, Scoob for the next few years at least!

How about this then, I haven't even got one or owned one or driven one, yet I find myself on this site all the time. I will be getting a new car in the next few months, buying a car for me is a big thing. I am not one of these lucky buggers that has a car gets bored of it and changes it two months down the line. So my choice is going to be hard, so many things tell me not to get the scoob yet I can't seem to stay away. I don't do many miles so the running costs of the scoob shouldn't matter but they do bug me, the insurance is pretty steep aswell. The other thing is I am at the point where I feel my next car should be sensible whilst retaining some fun, obviuosly scoobs aren't that sensible but they are fun. I think I will write down a shortlist and then go and test drive all of them, that will probably sort things out, although I bet I still end up dreaming of the scoob. I did once drive an Evo IV and although it made me smile from ear to ear and I immediately decided I wanted one something about it just didn't work for me, perhaps I will find the same with a scooby.

They get under your skin. Not just people who drive em too; all my mates love mine- even the ones who called me a boy racer when I first got it admit in a quiet moment that there is something special about it...

It has that one thing that is very difficult to engineer into a car: character!
