Anyone know the procedure for changing a car back to its previous reg. and how long it takes?

 

You'll need to get a from the Post Office,sorry can't remember the exact one at the moment but just ask someone at the counter.

Last time i transferred back to an original plate it took around 3 weeks

On this link you can download the relevant forms, and find out where your local vehicle licensing office is.

I would recommend, if you are posting your documents to use "Special Delivery".

Last time I did it, I went down to my local DVLA office. Filled in all the forms and payed my money £115 if I remember correctly.

It took 3 weeks to get documents through the post.

 

Also do it while you still have in your cars Documents in the private reg (insurance , MOT (if needed) and Tax) so don't change owner etc beforehand.

You can do it back to old reg (if reused will issue different old reg ) much easier with all Docs your name and Private plate number, gets a lot harder(but not impossible) to do if you've not IMHO

As said Local DVLA and under 3 weeks for all Docs back. IIRC The MOT and TAX disc was done there and then and given an exemption form to cover different numberpate to Tax & MOT till new Plates made
