Cool Front number plate position with FMIC on classic: any advice

Hi all,

Will be getting a FMIC fitted to my MY99 soon. This generates the problem of what to do with the front number plate. It can't stay in its current position, as it would only interupt the airflow to the FMIC. So where should I put it?

What am I allowed to do with it, legally speaking. I don't want to change the typeface etc, but would I, for example, be allowed to go for a three quarter size or half size plate? Where can I get a modified plate from and what's the best way of re-affixing the plate in whatever position you suggest?

Any advice from those who have been there seen it and done it would be most appreciated.

most that i have seen have fitted it to the lower part of the bumper or on to the lip spoiler, which is what i have done.

i have also gone ahead and ordered a smaller plate from fancyplates.com which they do say it is for show use only in thier small print but not had an issue with the police yet soo cross fingers

I'd hate to be making lfe difficult for the scameras!

I think the police might unreasonably object though.

Any legal suggestions?

What's the story with getting a square one, say covering one foglight?

Seen a few classics with that. The "evo-style" plate.

I'd thought of that; must be legal if the Evos can do it.

I'd loose a driving light though and they do come in handy on dark stretches of road. Lights aren't a scooby strong point!

To be honest, unless your plate completely covers the front mount, i wouldn't worry.

My autobahn fmic is completely cool on the exit side even after a hard run, and it's obscured by the number plate and parts of the bumper (running ~350 bhp)

Just seems a bit of a compromise to stick it somewhere else to improve airflow to the intercooler and then plonk something straight in the way of it

Also, I know, I know, I'm a tart, I want it to be visible!

I think they look good!

Mine is attached to the front lip splitter using my trusty super-strong velcro.
