Buying a legacy, what to look out for?

Buying a legacy, what to look out for?
My old daily work hack seems to have died a death with a cracked cylinder head which I really can't be bothered to repair, so thinking rather than replace with another complete shed I'd get a legacy - pref Auto 2.5 or 3.0. estate (as it'll be spending most of it's life in city commuter traffic, on the motorway or carrying loads)
Any hints and tips on what I should be looking for, any common or expensive failing points, at what average mileage the engines tend to start having problems etc?
Also what sort of budget I should be allowing? I'd prefer it if it weren't really any more than 10 yrs old, with up to 100k on the clock.
Cheers

just usual wear and tear items struts, wheel bearings, anti roll bar bushes, make sure no clicking on hard turning, rusty fuel filler pipe etc. like to be used by country folk.
dont know about 6cyl. family has had na subarus since they since they were for sale at machinery dealers. engines go on for donkeys one, of our old ones is still doing the rounds at 200K+.
non turbos are still relatively thirsty for what they deliver though.
