I fairly recently had the up pipe decatted so the H&S System sounds great.

I've noticed my rear box geting black soot around it.

Today, when I pulled away quickly, I looked my rear mirror & noticed a puff of black smoke comming out the exhaust.

Is this normal & can I do anything to stop the build up of black soot?

Isnt black smoke unburnt fuel , has it been remapped after going decat

 

It was remapped after the STI Decatted Up Pipe was fitted.

It also sometimes backfires if I use the fun pedal & then take my foot off it when changing up through the gears.

sounds like over fuelling to me,mine has got soot in exhaust tailpipe but does not black smoke.

i would say get it rechecked by whoever mapped it

 

Good scheme.

It gives me another excuse to see the mapper & listen to the sweet sounds of Scoobs being improved.

If im driving fast and change up gears mine also pops and throws out flames

As said above the best thing to do is to have a chat with your mapper, JGM must be getting so bored at the ammount of Q's i throw at him all the time
