Default why is it such a problem

Why do so many people think a car with over 100 thousand miles is dead.
I did and would much rather buy a higher mileage car thats been well looked after than a car with 60 thou on the clock and ragged silly by a noob driver.
I cannot understand why people shy away from them so much.
100 thousand on a well looked after scoob is just barely ran in.
someone educate these clowns

Couldn't agree more. Mine is at around 75k and feels fresh as a daisy. Mainly motorway miles which are much less ware and tear than constant short enthusiastic burts.

To be honest whatever you have car, hairdryer, tv, lawnmower the more you use it the more worn out it gets...... you can try to extend it's life - service - but all the other bits wear out. I think that would have to be classed as a fact !!!

Give me new or low miles every time. Also more miles can mean chances to be ragged ???

Not always the case. A low mileage car that has only ever done very short journeys will wear a lot quicker than one sat on a motorway cruising clocking up the miles.

personaly i am not put off by hihg millage UK cars but an import yes i would rather buy a low millage car.

i have recently bouhgt a uk car with 100kish on it but it has had a new 04 uk wrx lump fitted with 8k on the clock and the clutch replaced at t he same time along with pads and disks.

so in my opinion i would rather buy a 99 uk turbo with high millage rather than a 95/96 wrx import with lower millage which in many cases that i have come across only have history which comes from the guy that has it at the time of purchase.

just my two bits worth

just bought a 52 plate wrx with 87k on the clock. (see my post I'm Back).

The car has a raft of history like an encyclopedia. Serviced every 6 months ,only done motorway miles.(i know this cos i spoke to the previous owner), and it drives and sounds like new.

Plus the guy i bought it off absolutely robbed himself because of the mileage....i wont say what i paid but suffice to say i could put it back up for sale today and make 1500-2000 quid easily.

Bring on the higher mileage well looked after cars for me.

Gav.

ive just bought one with 105 on clock and it drives sweet . as long as its been looked after it is normally ok . high milage doesnt bother me in the slightest . 1 the car is normally cheaper 2. its been run in.3. all my low milage cars have always gone wrong lol so im abit biased!

Both my GTi6 and S4 have got high miles. Reems of documentation (cosha too!), plus the Pug has been stripped (by me) - both cars handle like they've just driven out of the showroom.

I think it's important to take the car history into account. Yes, some will be nails, others will be gems.

The phrase "Buyer Beware" springs to mind

god know why
think its snobbery mate
i had a new golf gti mk2 and was informed not even run in at 50 000 miles and it was true
its the whole throw away generation thats changed things i think and people just stop looking after cars when the miles "get high" but god nows why
