Default Number Plate Size & Spacing

What are the legal limits for number plate Size (can it be square)?

How small can the plate be, what are the minimum dimensions?

What are the measurements for letter spacing also?

i dont want to miss represent, just make sure that i can have a smaller plate but be within the law.

Cheer
minty.

It can be square, the evo's are square.

I don't see the point in smaller/odd spaced plates. Why get the extra attention from the old bill? It just gives them an excuse.

we were told that if the car is an import you can have 68mm letters with a 10mm border but only on an import.

Ok, so the story goes .....

I was brought a plate for my 21st reading M11 VTY spaced correctly it looks a little more like MllVTY.

And i also have recently saved a WRX with a blown engine and i have a plate WRX 98 currently sitting on my import RA.

I'm thinking of putting MINTY on the import spaced legally but on the limit and putting the WRX plate onto the WRX.

make sense

If an Import AND if a standard plate doesn't fit Ypu can indeed fit a square import plate BUT number have to be over TWO lines not One.

This is where they have hidden the Section 14a ammendment. It used to be easily found on the DVLA site, but the powers that be would prefer if we all had similar easily machine-read items...

The registered number need not be displayed over two lines btw (it will fit legally on one libe if it inly incorporates two numbers, or perhaps three including one or more '1's): it is usually the case that it must be only in order to fit and be spaced correctly.

As soon as you use a cherished number with fewer character though, your justification for using motorcycle-sized characters ceases to be.....
