Default spent alot of money on a gearbox

spent alot of money on a gearbox last weekend because it sounded like the one i had on it was making alot of noise! even let scooby clinic have a look they said it could be the bearings in there but they wasnt sure. so anyway i changed the wheel bearing and the noise went, so iv got a spare box what i dont need! anyone got an idea how much the box is worth selling private, its a 1998 uk turbo box with 56000 miles which come off a rear smash?

they couldn't tell the difference between gearbox or wheel bearing?!?!

it depends whether you spare gearbox has been treated well and routinely oiled up for 56k or absolutlet battered round a track for 56k miles.

not knowing the extensive history of a 10 year old gearbox, is why i decided to spend the extra and go with a recon box from api.

I can see where he's comming from...

This was a suspected Front Diff:




After the wheel bearing spectacularly failed and I replaced it.. noise gone

i bet your glad you didn't go straight for the rebuild and then mr mechanic go your box is fine! but erm im sorry but your wheel bearing is a little noisy

bugger me that is one fubared bearing!!!
