ecu mapping

Default ecu mapping

how can i tell if my ecu has been mapped?

where is the ecu?

i dont want to be paying 700 pound if its been done before and where is the best place to have it mapped if its not been done?

Mapping tends to make a pretty noticeable difference when done after stage 1 mods like exhaust etc so I'd reckon that if your car was mapped, you'd know about it.

Failing that take it to a mapper who can probably plug in the ecu and tell you, prior to offering you THEIR services!

A honest mapper can, and will, tell you! It's obvious when they interrogate the ECU. Short of finding the person who had it mapped originally and getting an invoice from them, I don't think there is another way to "prove" it's been done.

but how would i know cos i brought the car like it with all mods on it

I guess you could always get it dyno'd.

its already been dyno'd kicking out 307 bhp

Do you have any mods? i.e. exhaust, intake. When you did the dyno run, did your air fuel ratio look good? What boost are you running?

good point i only know its been dyno'd cos of some paperwork i have and dont have any think else to tell me of anything else. as far as i know it is a standed sti v5 apart from dump valve and exhaust.

AFAIK If they had the softare themselves, yes. All they would know is if the car already had the Ecutek licence; the other mappers work would not be visible to them.
