Well that's more weight to my argument for an MY02. I'll be looking forward to the insurance premium hike then
What are you paying for insurance?
Suncorp quoted me $770, could be worse.

What type of immobiliser do the OZ cars come with? My car is basically an import direct from Japan and I think it has the factory fitted transponder immobiliser with the light in the instrument panel. Is this immobiliser no good, do I need something better?
Supposedly only one Subaru has been stolen here in Sunny South Africa, I dont want to be the second. The person went for a test drive, liked the car so much that just kept going!!!

Maybe insurance is just cheaper where I live. They go by the postcode of where you live here. I'm in a rural area so that helps. Being rating 1 also helps, as well as having several other insurance policies with the same company including my house & contents. I attract a 10 percent discount right off the top.

P1Fanatic - can't believe the insurance prems you guys are getting charged in the UK.
In NZ prems are mainly based on driver age and vehicle cost, with allowances for NCB and alarm.
Fully comp on my '94 turbo WRX with NCB is $250pa (divide by three for sterling) - admittedly I'm getting old and wrinkly.
Oh - and car insurance in NZ is optional (so just needs a bit of care with whom you have an accident).
Maybe the insurance companies here take the view that if insurance is non-compulsory, it better not be too expensive?
regards
Editted to add that top of the thieves' hit list in NZ are Subaru Turbo wagons and turbo WRX's (so in that respect we're not much different from the UK and Aussie.

Insurance for my MY02 was AUS $1100.00 (that's just under 400 quid) per year with an excess of $150 (about 50 pounds). Whilst some insurance companies won't touch them it is possible to shop around for a reasonable deal.
To say I'm shocked at the cost of some of your insurance would be an understatement

WREXY,
i wanna cry
It is almost cheaper to fly over to OZ every weekend to go for a drive!! Next you will be telling me that there are miles of empty roads to drive on, with no Police either

No, OZ can't have everything m8. Although the roads aren't too bad traffic wise, the cops are everywhere. Heaps of radar traps (laser), mobile K band radar on police cars, and cameras, plus the usual highway patrol favourite, "lets hassle scoobs and performance cars tonight" with defect notices, called, a canary, coz the sticker is yellow.
