Default How do you tell if car has been re-mapped?

Guys,

I have a 02 bugeye wrx. When I bought it I realised it had uprated headers and after enquiries I was told it had been remapped and was decatted. However the garage wanted to sell it as a standard car and put everything bar the headers back to standard.

Now I dont know if the ecu was put back to standard or not.

Since then I have decatted the centre cat and have put on a sports cat down pipe and a dump valve.

1. How do I find out if the car is still mapped? (expense)
2. If it has would I need another remap?
3. If its not been remapped am I going to increase the chances of it blowing up?
4. Any recommendations for a mapper around north west/manchester?

Apologies for all the q's any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers

when plugged into laptop would be able to see if it has an EcuTek licence installed and therefore has been mapped.

however you need it to be mapped for the current mods so would advice getting it mapped anyway as your mods maybe different to the mods it had previously and may or may not have been mapped for.. just if it has been mapped previously and therefore retains the licence within the ecu it will be cheaper than if it hasn't been remapped.

Many thanks Simon. Do I run the risk of doing serious damage if its not re-mapped asap?
